TRES A CERO! Cavan Sullivan Makes History In USMNT 3-0 Thrashing Of Mexico!
Mexico just got exposed, and the USMNT just announced itself as the better team right now. After a brutal 3-0 result in Arizona, Antonio and Marco break down why this was more than a friendly - it was a statement about depth, mentality, and where both CONCACAF powers actually stand.
Marco comes in hot after watching Mexico get thrashed, and he does not hold back on the mistakes that changed the match: Tala Rangel's footwork disaster, the red card that killed Mexico's composure, and the lineup decisions he believes Rafael Marquez got badly wrong. Antonio pushes the conversation deeper, pointing to Mexico's lack of identity, missing midfield, and the bigger question of whether the national team is moving in the wrong direction at all.
You'll hear sharp takes on Julian Hall's rise, Cavan Sullivan becoming the youngest scorer in USMNT men's history, Malik Tillman's impact, and why this USMNT squad suddenly looks deeper and more dangerous than the one that went to the last World Cup. The guys also break down how Pochettino's team is building a real identity, why players like Chris Richards, Tyler Adams, and Gio Reyna have elevated the level, and why Christian Pulisic may be watching all of this as a wake-up call.

Project 90 Soccer: Welcome to the Project 90 Soccer Podcast. My name is Antonio, and I'm here as always with Marco Antonio Munoz Sporting the Mexico Jersey. And we are gonna just dive straight into it, Marco. We just witnessed United States absolutely thrash and uninspiring Mexican national team. Tonight in Arizona, three to zero for the United States. goals by Julian Hall. Three for three now. Unbelievable. It's unreal, right? Big mistake from Ron Hell on that goal. Then big mistake on the second goal. Kevin Sullivan becoming the youngest goal scorer in the United States men's history, 17 years old in five days. Unbelievable. And then the third goal is another mistake, not from Rung Hell this time. It's kind of a back pass that. Defender kind of let go by. Malik Tillman sort of went around the side and just buried it home. Three zero United States. Marco, I'm gonna send it straight over to you, man. Just just let me know what you're feeling right now about this defeat for Mexico.
Marco: Anto, we got Mexico got their ads handed to them, but you know me. Win or lose, I'm gonna represent the squad, so
Project 90 Soccer: Respect.
Marco: I I wore the jersey proud, but I don't know if you remember before the World Cup started, who did I say needed to start in the World Cup because there were better caliber of a goalie?
Project 90 Soccer: Ooh who
Marco: Ochoa over Talarangel. Because Talargel,
Project 90 Soccer: And man.
Marco: what did I say? He does not know how to play with what?
Project 90 Soccer: His feet.
Marco: Correct. And what happened in the second goal?
Project 90 Soccer: Terrible mistake with his feet. Straight to Kevin Sullivan. Terrible pass. Intercepted.
Marco: His feet his feet, awareness. And the first goal, it was like a I I want to give him the benefit of the doubt that it's a reaction, but you're in your you're in your position because of reactions. So that shouldn't happen. You should already know what to do. So goal number one, Rahane's fault. Goal number two, Raghan's fault. Goal number three, who did I text you before the game started? I do not know why he's starting. And he's the one that let the ball go. And Malik Tillman did his job and scored. Who was that? Campillo. Campillo.
Project 90 Soccer: I have to pull it up. Cambio, number three, number three, Cambio. That is correct. And when I saw the back pass, I thought, okay, well, it's, you know, he could just clear it out, type of thing. But he kind of let it go. And Tillman
Marco: Anton.
Project 90 Soccer: just burned him to it.
Marco: As much as I want to win this game every time, shout out to US. They did what
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: needed to be done. They capitalized on all the opportunities they needed to capitalize on. They were
Project 90 Soccer: The handle then.
Marco: out outside of the first seven, ten minutes, where it was like and it like everyone's coming in hot, everybody wants to win the game first ten, fifteen minutes. Outside of that, it was a U I text you. It was USA game in general.
Project 90 Soccer: All day.
Marco: The di they had a the defense, I mean, you got Richards in the back.
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah, trusty Anthony Robinson, Anthony Robinson.
Marco: Trusty Anthony Robinson. I was talking to my to to my family member that was here. I'm like, bro, nobody's getting past Anthony Robinson. He's like one of their best players. And I was like,
Project 90 Soccer: He's a beast, dude. He works hard too.
Marco: I was like, I was like, Chris Richards, let's not talk about him. He's another solid
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: ass guy. Like, no one in the Mexico unit is gonna do anything with these guys because a lot of their plays, a lot of the players that they play, yes, they play in the World Cup, but In general, they're like they're they're the best players on the squad, right? Mexico came in with a lot of guys that were on the bench in the World Cup. some of you guys, Campillo, Sandoval from Chivas, I get it, but this is not the game for them to play. If anything, this was the game for them to come in as subs. I think in the USA versus the Mexico game, you need to play your starters so you can 'cause you always want to win that match. You never want to win, you never want to lose three zero. If you do lose, you wanna lose maybe two to one. Maybe one of zero, like three zero, you never want to lose these games. So now Rafael Marquez is probably going back with his coach where like, hey dude, I made a lot of mistakes. Which is gonna happen. Rafael Marquez is his first time being a number one coach because he he was with Barcelona B. He never really had us had has a legit squad. So this is his first time he's with a number one team. So
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: I don't know, man. I didn't like Orville Pineda starting. Like I told you earlier on, I didn't like Chavez being on the bench and what ended up happening, Chavez comes on and he gets a red card.
Project 90 Soccer: Terrible. Terrible.
Marco: he should have never striked striked hi in in the face, in the Brahalter
Project 90 Soccer: Burr halter. Yeah.
Marco: in the face. I get it, Bur Holter coming in to push, but it's one of those games where it's gonna be physical. It's gonna be one of those games where where everybody
Project 90 Soccer: reaction though. It it's your composure, man.
Marco: Yes, it's gonna be one of those games where everybody's touching everybody. Like you just can't slap a guy the face. No matter how soft it was, like you're gonna get a red card you already know you are.
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: But this also speaks to the inexperience of of Mateo Chavez, how he's young. But I didn't like a lot of things right off the right off the rip, like I told you, Gallardo starting, Mateo Chavez on the bench. I didn't I I didn't
Project 90 Soccer: Sing Santi Jimenez.
Marco: like I didn't like San Sandoval and Campillo starting. I didn't like Dasanti who's not informed, who hasn't been scoring with the with Mexico. I think it's been a year now since he scored.
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: I didn't like him as the number one. They should have put Ormiga Gonzalez, who's tearing it up in the in in the Grease fleet,
Project 90 Soccer: In Greece.
Marco: tearing it up with Olympiacos. That guy should have started. He's in his moment. He's informed but I don't know what Rafael Marquez was thinking. I don't know what game plans he has going on with his team. I have no idea what they were talking about or who they were saving to play against Chile in a couple days. But this was not the game to do it. This was the game to throw all your best players that have in your squad out there. Maybe one guy you don't throw out there that's that they that that you want to go see and see what he's capable of, like Sandoval. Sandoval, he did some good things in the first half. But this wasn't the game to do it. And
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: ultimately, like I told you Anto in the World Cup, Tar Rangel, he's in form. He was the number one goalkeeper, he's playing well with Chivas, but this is not a guy that knows how to play with his feet. This is not a guy that I see as the number one. And I was talking to my buddy. I'm like, you know what? Alex Padilla, who's playing with Atletico Bilbao, this guy needs to be the needs needs to get a shot. So we can see if he's going to be the real number one for the squad. Because what we saw today was embarrassing, bro. Like,
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: for your goal is to do two mistakes. One is more than enough. Two, come on, shame on you. How do you
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: not see the prodigy, Kevin Sullivan, in front of you before you make that pass?
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah. Mm-hmm.
Marco: And shout out to him. Kevin Sullivan, you did what you had to do when you got that ball. You scored it. Tillman, you did what you had to do when Campia fucked up. You scored. Julian
Project 90 Soccer: Mm-hmm. They took advantage.
Marco: Hall, you did what you had to do when the goalie screwed up. You were there for the rebound. Shout out to the USA. Shout out to Pochettino. It was a USA game. They were able to make it happen. If this was a gold cup or whatever qualifier, shout out to y'all for getting the three points. But ultimately, it was a friendly. But shout out to you guys. You guys got the job done. Mexico, whatever they demonstrated today, showed me, showed
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: me, showed me guys. That shouldn't be called anymore. Callardo? I keep saying it. Luis Chavez, I like you a lot, bro. You play very hard. You play in Russia with Dynamo. You got your starting spot after you got injured. But you know what, bro? You're not a seleccionado anymore. It's just you're just not. Santi, you need to ride the bench, bro. I don't care if you play with Porto. I don't care if AC Milan holds your card. You need to ride the bench. You're not scoring goals. You're not doing shit. You're
Project 90 Soccer: Nope.
Marco: not scoring goals for AC Milan. You're not scoring goals for Porto. Santi, you need to ride the bench right now.
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: Mexico. You got a lot of questions
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah, okay.
Marco: that you need to answer going into that match against Chile. Because Chile, what do they do? They play hard.
Project 90 Soccer: They they they they play hard, dude.
Marco: And what did Chile do to Mexico years ago? They beat them like seven zero. Seven zero.
Project 90 Soccer: God.
Marco: I think it was like seven zero. Ka the seven zero that England scored on Croatia. Mexico. Mexico.
Project 90 Soccer: What a game that is, by the way. Yeah, seven zero. Mexico.
Marco: Rafa Marquez, Andrés Guardado, today you got your ass handed to you. Pochetino,
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: great job. Tillman, great job. Sullivan, great job. Julian Hall, amazing
Project 90 Soccer: It's true.
Marco: job. Julian Hall. Do not go to Poland. Julian Hall. Stay with the US.
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah. Yeah. I don't there's no way, bro. There's no way he's gonna go to Poland after these last three games. They they love him. Everyone loves Julian Hall. Three goals in three games, come on.
Marco: Mexico, Mexico, Mexico had no identity today. They were
Project 90 Soccer: Not.
Marco: on they were is what you call in boxing. I keep referencing boxing. They were fighting off their back foot the rest of the game after they scored. They had
Project 90 Soccer: Mm-hmm.
Marco: nothing going for them.
Project 90 Soccer: Nothing. Really? I mean, can you even name one clear cut really good opportunity?
Marco: something humanist, but then something humanist did hit on target, it went to the right side.
Project 90 Soccer: One that where USA almost made the mistake.
Marco: Yeah.
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah, and he just completely kind of didn't get a good good grasp on it. But other than that, outside of that, what I mean, there's nothing. When I saw Mexico today, dude, I didn't see anything. It was like a team, just a bunch of just 11 individual players on the field. It's like, all right, guys, let's just go out there and let's just try to fucking bring it to them. No game plan, no composure, no possession, nothing of substance at all. They were out there.
Marco: There was no midfield, bro. There was no midfield.
Project 90 Soccer: Nothing. Nothing. And you got Lila in there, you got Alvarado, you got all these guys with experience. It's like they were absent, dude. There was nothing going on of quality for Mexico today at all, dude. And then Ron Hell did not help whatsoever. If he doesn't make those mistakes, you know, the game looks different, maybe. But either way, they still didn't play a good game. They didn't play good.
Marco: If he doesn't make those mistakes, I still can't say that USA wouldn't have found a way to score. Because
Project 90 Soccer: Exactly. Yeah.
Marco: USA was on their ass. Bro, the back line, bro, come on. Richards. You know, you got you got Freeman. You got Adams. Come
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah. Yeah, they were killing it. Freeman did well. Mm hmm. Yeah.
Marco: my my buddy, my buddy was like, why isn't Sergino Dessin? I'm like, because he doesn't need to be in. These guys are playing very well right now.
Project 90 Soccer: That's how good of a that's and I mentioned it last time was how much depth they have now as a team. They brought in all these new players, and it's like up top they have options now. They have Julian Hall, they have Justin Ellis that came in off the bench, two young kids that are new. They have Mattis Albert, who plays for Dortmund. He's a winger. He didn't even come into the game today. You got Kevin Sullivan, who is literally seventeen years old. You got Adams, then you got Eunice Musa coming off of the bench, right? You got Burhalter starting now. I mean, the list goes on and on. You got Serginho Dest on the bench, a a starter for the past world two World Cups. He was their star you know what I mean? So the the the depth of the squad is just on another level now, I think.
Marco: Anto
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: Anto, when I was watching this game I just wanted to I just wanted to chug, bro. I just wanted to chug.
Project 90 Soccer: well. you just wanted to start drinking some tequila, huh? You should have, man, for your people.
Marco: I I wanted a chuck, bro. Cause it was it was so disappointing seeing the way they were playing. Like there was no organization. Like it seemed like guys were playing the roles, but like they were out of place. I get it, right? This is early on. Guys are getting called up to to figure out if if if they're national s national squad quality, but I don't like This was bad, bro. Like I'm gonna say, I know it's early. This is bad. And I was talking
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: to my and I was talking to my buddy, I'm like, yeah, Rafael Marquez loses another two games, he's on the chopping block. That's just the way the Mexican Federation works. They have no patience. And
Project 90 Soccer: Mm-hmm.
Marco: they and then what does that do to Mexico? Hey, they're not hosting the World Cup in 2030. So they're gonna Yeah, they're
Project 90 Soccer: Right. Different ball game, man. They gotta go overseas.
Marco: gonna fucking have to qualify the RAS into or are you gonna call Javier Aguirre again? Come on, bro. Like,
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: this game was just As much as I want to be extremely pissed off and I wanna be understanding that hey, this is just a friendly. You guys are figuring things out, you guys are calling up players that you guys are trying to see there for the national squad. But just what they showed on the field, like it just it just leaves me with a sour taste at freaking
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah what
Marco: ten ten twenty at night.
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: going into bed. And then when I wake up I'm gonna be thinking about how good US was in comparison to Mexico.
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah, it was night and day. I mean, USA looked like they just wanted it more too. They were out there, they had a game plan.
Marco: One one hundred percent.
Project 90 Soccer: It's like they they really worked towards playing a certain style and going out there and executing on their game plan. And that's what they did. And Mexico again just looked lost, bro. They look completely lost. There's no team chemistry. It felt like everyone was just bouncing around all over the place. Just the first 15 minutes of the game, you can say, was Very chaotic from both teams. Like the game itself was chaotic. There was no real good possession going around. The ball was getting lost here and there, passed there. nobody really had any good possession or you can say dominance or control of the game at that point. But I mean, as soon as maybe minute twenty hit, it was just USA all over the place, dominating, dominating, and then the first goal, then the second goal, and you know, it's
Marco: And shout out to their goalie. Who's her goalie? His first match ever.
Project 90 Soccer: yeah, my God, I can't believe I'm blinking on his name. it it is his first match. I want to I wanna Google that. But while I Google that, I want to ask you about Santi Jimenez. Is this it? I mean, how many opportunities is this guy gonna get? Not only at club, but I mean at country as well. I mean it's got it.
Marco: I don't I don't think this is gonna be it, Anto, unfortunately, because he's playing
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: Europe. So they're gonna want to call the guys that are playing in Europe. But Santi, like, bro, he needs to get it fucking together. Like, there was one, right, where it was like an instant reaction. But when you're a n when you're a number nine, when you're for you need be in position at all times, bro.
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: So that was one of those things where like my buddy was like, but it was an instant reaction, he couldn't have got him like His job is to get in position to be in position.
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: So he hasn't scored in a long time. I I forget the goal they scored in the gold cup a couple years ago to win the gold the gold cup. Like F that. Screw that. He didn't do anything in the World Cup. He hasn't he hasn't done anything for AC Milan since got injured. He hasn't done any he hasn't scored for Porto since he came back. This guy's gets paid this
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah. I mean he said
Marco: guy gets paid to score goals. Why do we even call him? Porto
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah, exactly.
Marco: the Porto coach even said, Why are you even calling him? He's still barely getting inform. I would like him to stay here, to continue
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: trying to get informed. But it's just one of those things where like maybe we're s we're like I was texting you earlier, we're scarce in that position.
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah, you are. You have Raul Jimenez, but how old is he now? Thirty eight?
Marco: Bro, don't even call him anymore. His time is done. He's playing in
Project 90 Soccer: That's what I'm saying.
Marco: he's playing the championship right now with Wolves, right? He's trying to make things happen for himself. Like, Ormiga Gonzalez should've started this freaking game. Ormiga Gonzalez is tearing it up in the Greece League with Olympiacos. Ormiga Gonzalez should have been the guy at the forefront. Not Santi. Santi should've came in that fucking seventy seventy, seventy-fifth minute. And even then
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: he should have rode the bench, throw somebody else from the Liga of Mekis in there.
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: Some people needs to earn his earn his spot.
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah, and by the time Gonzalez came on, they were man down anyway. So it's like you're you're really you're not giving the kid a chance to really like impact the game at all. And and Jimenez, man, you it's he never he doesn't score, bro. He's a he's a forward. He's literally their striker. You need to score goals. The the opportunity that he missed was similar to the goal that Julian Hall scored. I mean, it's just being a striker, you gotta have that instinct. You gotta be on your toes, like ready for any deflection, bobble, any You know what I mean? You gotta be in there. It's your job to clean all that up and score goals. And if he if he
Marco: I really hope.
Project 90 Soccer: misses one, look, if he misses one you could understand. Let's say he's been on fire and he missed that. And it's like, okay, well, he missed one. But he doesn't score, period. So it's like, what are
Marco: It's
Project 90 Soccer: we doing?
Marco: it's one of those things where it I think it's less let's Like Pulisic, right? We're talking about with Ace
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: Milan. He just needed to score. I think it's one of those things where he just needs to get the ball in the back of the net to get some confidence because right now, Anto,
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah, nine.
Marco: there's nothing going on. And even if you scored the most shittiest goal, at least you know the ball went the back of the net. Now it gives you more confidence to next time you're playing whoever you're playing with, that the ball is going to go in the back of the net. But right now, nothing is going in the back of the net. Nothing. But
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah. Mm-hmm.
Marco: he keeps getting these opportunities. And you know what? He's gonna if he continues to not capitalize on these opportunities, he's gonna find his way back in Liga Mekis. And again, he's gonna find his way out of the national squad.
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: Because we need a number nine that can score. And right now, we don't have one.
Project 90 Soccer: You guys need Blanco back on the team.
Marco: Bro, let me call Blanco right now. He's like 200 pounds. Let me call him. Come
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: back and do the Guatemilla on all these guys. Because
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: until right now we're struggling. Right now, right
Project 90 Soccer: Struggling.
Marco: now, I'm telling you, Jamaica can come and beat us right now. I'm telling you right now. I'm just saying it. No matter
Project 90 Soccer: Damn.
Marco: who we are, I'm not gonna say we need Gilmora. If you're relying on one guy to win games, we have a problem.
Project 90 Soccer: Right, right. And and you know, if he would have played today, would that have really made a massive difference? If Chucky Lozano was available, would that have made a massive difference? Maybe it would have made a little bit of a difference. Maybe you would have been able to, you know, you would have created a chance or two more. But I mean, at the end of the day, United States just played way better. They shut the they
Marco: Played very, very well.
Project 90 Soccer: were shutting him down. Tyler Adams, Burr Halter is just is the guy's just everywhere. Gio Reino is buzzing all over the field. left side, right side, right back, whatever it was to keep possession. They were they were moving the ball side to side really well. Tillman, yeah, Tillman was
Marco: Tillman, Adams, everybody.
Project 90 Soccer: great game from Tillman. There were there were two chances I noticed where where Julian Hall, there was a quick turnover, and Julian Hall made great runs, and Tillman just hit two passes too short. But if he would have hit those with a little more power and precision, like Julian Hall could have been in two more times. So that's really the only critique for Tillman. Other than that, the guy was Creating sh he was dribbling through I mean, they were smothering him to be fair. They were really getting on him every time he got the ball. But regardless, man, the entire team showed up today. They all did their job and they came out of there you know, three zero with with another win. Now it's set of dos acero, it's try sacer now is already what I'm seeing, and it's
Marco: I was I was thinking about that. I was thinking about that before they scored the third goal. I'm like, here we again, another Dol Sa Cero. And I'll tell my buddy,
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: I'll tell my buddy, this is the result I hate the most because this is the result that US, you know, just loves the Dol Sa Cero. And but
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah. Yeah, absolutely.
Marco: they have made a point earlier before the game started that Mexico has not won in soldier field and they didn't win again. They got their ass whooped.
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah. Mm-hmm.
Marco: Three to zero. Rafa Marquez. Hopefully you are ripping your players. Hopefully you have an idea who who who you're gonna call and who you're not. Hopefully you have an idea who you're gonna cut and who you're not. Because against
Project 90 Soccer: Mm-hmm.
Marco: Chile, bro, Chile, regardless of what's going on, you can lose that game too. Rafa Rafa Marquez,
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah, they they go hard.
Marco: Mexico, you guys tied the first two games. You guys need a fucking dub. You guys need to get three you guys not three points. You guys need to win against Chile. You cannot go these four games. And say you didn't win any of them.
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: The game that you had to lose was against USA. That's the only game that we can say, all right, that you guys lost against USA valid. Not three goals. You're gonna get shit on by the Mexican media because you got scored on three times. But this was the game to
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah. Yeah. Not the not the way you played either. Yeah. Not the way you played and lost, but
Marco: lose and every other game to win or tie. You
Project 90 Soccer: Mm-hmm.
Marco: need to win against Chile. If not, we got some serious serious, serious problems in our hands. I don't care. How early this is, Mexico and USA. You guys need to be winning these games. The only
Project 90 Soccer: I agree.
Marco: games you should be losing is against USA and against Mexico. You guys are in one and two in the CONCACAF, supposedly.
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: But the CONCACAF every year it keeps evolving. You never know, Antônio. Remember when Jamaica was so good a couple years ago? Panama was
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah. They had a run.
Marco: Panama was giving people for the run of their for their run of their money a year or two ago.
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: You just never know, bro. So Mexico and USA need to be on their keys and queues every single year. Doesn't
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: matter. My buddy was telling me, he's like, but it's because it's the gold cup, it's not very important. They play their B squad. I'm like, fuck that, told him. Nah. They need
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: to win the World Cup. I mean, they need to win the Gold Cup every single time. Just like
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: USA needs to win the Gold Cup every single time. I don't
Project 90 Soccer: Mm-hmm.
Marco: care if it's a B squad. It's a Konka it's a Conca Caf
Project 90 Soccer: The expect the expectation.
Marco: It's a Konka Kaf tournament. You need to win it at all times. What are we
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: talking about?
Project 90 Soccer: Mm-hmm. You're the best team. You're the best teams in CONCACAF. You need to you need to be challenging to win the win the Gold Cup, every single Gold Cup. That's the expectation for Mexico and the United States. And United States today look like since post World Cup, they're going in the right direction. Mexico
Marco: One hundred percent.
Project 90 Soccer: does not look like they're going in the right direction at all. And in terms of now the USA, they're they're talking about is, you know, the future of the United States men's national team. Kevin Sullivan, Sullivan, Albert, Julian Hall, all Memedi and the the goal goalie's name was Diego Cochin is his name.
Marco: There you are.
Project 90 Soccer: so they're saying, you know, this is are these the future stars of the national team? And in my opinion, they are the present stars of the national team. They're in. Like there's no more question, if you ask me. Like they need to be in the camp every single break at this point, unless some other superstar comes out of the shadows somewhere. I they need to be in the team. I think they're I think they're already the future. They're already the players of the United States national team. They've shown it. They've proven it. They have the hunger. They have the desire. They have the ability. And I think what we're seeing in this camp is good, in particular for a guy that was left out on this run, which is Pulisic and Pulis or Pulisic, however you want to say it. because I think he's sitting there in Milan right now. He just came back. He had a good couple of games from Milan before the break. And now he's seeing the United States sort of bounce back. He's seen these young players get on the field, make an impact, threaten for his position essentially. And I think that's gonna do nothing but light a fire inside of Pulisic to come back and to really, I think, put his head down and get to work. Because this next World Cup, he's 31 years old, 32 years old, something like that. And he's gonna have some experienced youngsters behind him and on the same team. So if he can if he can take this as I think he is as a as a wake up call and as motivation more than anything to get back on the United States, you throw in McKenny and Pulsic with the squad that they have right now, I think they have a a much more dangerous team than we just saw at the previous World Cup.
Marco: And I really hope Eunice Musa goes back and says, Yo, hey Chris, bro, we got some dogs on the squad.
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: Because hey, next time they call you, you need to come you need to come to camp. Anto.
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: They have everything going for them right now. They have
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah, it's good.
Marco: they have the strong base. They have Adams, a very strong captain. They
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: have a bunch of stuff to build on from the World Cup. They got a lot of young talent that they can build on and they can sustain throughout throughout the next couple of years. for for them to just be strong in general. Rather it's an A squad or a B squad. You can intermingle players that you're trying to figure out if you want on their squad. But a lot of positives on their end and a lot of negatives on the on the on the Mexican side. A lot of questions to answer on the Mexican side. So I don't know. It's one of those games where I'm I could I could have been like, hey look This game isn't mean it doesn't mean anything. They're trying players, but just the way they play today and the players that were on the s on that started it and were were were came in during during the substitutions were it's just a lot of stuff just just didn't make sense. So
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: I'm really looking forward to that Chile game to see if any adjustments are made and see if they come in with guns blazing, but I'm talk to be honest, I'm not I'm I'm I'm not too enthusiastic about that game.
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah, I wouldn't be either at this point. You just want a result for Mexico. You want to win. However, they get it, just get it. And they need to go back to the drawing board because it's not it's not looking good whatsoever. today was was just the cherry on top in terms of really not looking good for Mexico. United States came out and absolutely just dominated, as we've said. So yeah, man, I think Marquez really needs to You know, it might be a wake-up call for him too. Like you said, it's his first real senior
Marco: Yeah,
Project 90 Soccer: team that he's in charge of. And it's not just any team, it's his national team. It's Mexico, you know, and and soccer for for the Mexican Mexican culture. yeah, there you go.
Marco: Yeah.
Project 90 Soccer: Throw it up. Throw up that jersey. For them, it means everything, man. Like this is unacceptable. This is hard to watch. Even as a neutral, it's like hard to watch. You want to see those classic USA versus Mexico games. And I do believe that one day Mexico's gonna bounce back. Hilbert Tamora's gonna be in there. One one day, one day.
Marco: One day, goddamn, bro. How far how far are you putting it?
Project 90 Soccer: It could be a couple of weeks, maybe a couple of months, hopefully not a couple of years. Let's put it that way.
Marco: But Anto, Anto, Anto, Anto, Mexico's gonna qualify better than USA in the next World Cup. I'm telling you right
Project 90 Soccer: my god Yeah?
Marco: I'm s I'm just saying it bro. Mexican culture.
Project 90 Soccer: Hey, I I no, I believe they qualify, no doubt, but if we're talking current today, what we just saw, United States is the best team in CONCACAF right now. I think that's valid.
Marco: Hey, I wouldn't disagree. Hey, I wouldn't disagree, but what do I always say? I'm gonna bat for my team. I'm gonna go to bat.
Project 90 Soccer: Hey man, I bat for Italy and they haven't made the last three World Cups. But you see me wearing their jerseys still all the time. Let's touch on it real quick. Yeah, let's get a little let's
Marco: Hey, hey. Let's let's let's let's touch on Italy right now. Hey.
Project 90 Soccer: yeah, let's close it out with Italy versus France, bro. Yeah.
Marco: Hey, ready? Bastoni.
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah. Bravo, bravo. Two goals in two games. Bellissimo.
Marco: Bellissimo, bastoni.
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah, bellissimo. Italy played really, really surprisingly. I'd say well, yeah, well versus France. Defensively solid. Coyote is a beast. The right back. That kid's in there for the long term. I tell you right now.
Marco: Beast, beats, una bestia.
Project 90 Soccer: Bastoni Scalvini finally getting over all the injuries the young man has endured over the last couple of years. ACL, knee problems, surgeries, things like that. He was always looked at as similar to Bastoni as one of the best rising defenders in Italy. So it's really good to see him out there and actually wearing the Italy shirt. Calafiotti's Calafiore. He's just, you know. He's a beast. The guy's a beast. He's all over the field. you know, I think Italy is still sort of I know they have Pio Esposito. He's, you know, big target man. Sebastiano Esposito, but I I was telling you, I still feel like Italy is missing a a Chiesa type player, right? Ever since Chiesa left the national team post Euros that they won, he injured his knee with Juve. And ever since then, it's like we've been lacking that spark, that player that can just change a game essentially. And I think that's Italy's biggest sort of missing point. Right now, Donna Ruma is their MVP. The guy made like seven saves versus France. The guy's undeniably the best.
Marco: What do think about what do you think about Barrela being on the bench to start? That that's something different. That's something different.
Project 90 Soccer: it is. They've they've relied on him a lot in the past couple of years. Like he's been their guy. I'm not too mad about it. I saw, you know, we saw Vergara Vergara in there and some newer players, but Barella, I'd still have to say, along with Tonali, you know, there's been Brian Cristante's been in and out. there's not too many other sort of top options, in my opinion, for Italy in that position, but I think I think they're gonna need to figure that out. They got Ricci, too, who has not really been in the team. He got loaned out to Como. but Moyce Keen, dude, I love his energy. I love what he brings to the team. But the guy, just like when they they lost that qualifying match for his Bosnia before the World Cup, same as this last game we just saw, golden chances, golden opportunities in front of goal one on one, and he does not finish. He does not finish.
Marco: Where what that rem what that reminded me of another Santa Himenez. He's on a he's on a big name team, but he's just not scoring goals when he needs to, bro.
Project 90 Soccer: No, he's not clutch. Let's put it that way at all. When you when you get that one opportunity in a game like that versus France or a game where you need to win to go to the World Cup, you need to be clutch. You need to be the guy that you need to be the people in Zaghi, bro. You get the ball near the goal and it's going in the goal. Like that's the kind of striker you gotta be.
Marco: Hey, I I I don't know what Mancini's looking or what he's seeing or what his game plan or his the thought process is because Keen was in there for quite a bit.
Project 90 Soccer: He was, and I was expecting Raspadori to come on, but instead of him, he put in Scamaka. But either way, he did it so late in the game. And I I don't know what what the deal was there. I think he waited a little too long to make these substitutes. But, you know, I'm I'm I'm happy with the result versus France. It was in France, Zidane's first time playing Italy, being involved with Italy. First game for France at home for Zidane as well. So You know, to draw and get out of there with a point is a big result, I think, considering the first game we saw versus Belgium was absolute shit, we can say, right? They sort of bounced back versus Turkey, who wasn't the greatest team. And then we always were saying how this game versus France is gonna be the real test.
Marco: Hey and who made the mistake? Who have I been raving about? Who made the mistake?
Project 90 Soccer: For who?
Marco: For France.
Project 90 Soccer: what's his name? He got sent off. Upa Makanu got sent off too. I just remembered that, but who? Who who
Marco: Babe Mocano got sent off. What a dummy.
Project 90 Soccer: you talking about?
Marco: Who made the mistake? Who gave the pass that Bastoni capitalized on?
Project 90 Soccer: Trying to remember, dude, I'm drawing a blank. Defender, give me a hint.
Marco: Come on, Anto. Come on, Anto. Anto, come on, Anto. I'm I'm gonna let hey,
Project 90 Soccer: I don't remember. I'm trying to remember. I don't remember.
Marco: I'm gonna let you sit on this one. I'm gonna let you sit on it and then you hit me up after. But it was but but
Project 90 Soccer: Okay. I don't even remember. I'm telling you right now, I d I can't even remember.
Marco: But kudos to Bastoni, bro. The way he he was being proactive and he saw that mistake happen in real time and he was able to capitalize on it. Bastoni,
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: shout out to you, bro. And shout out to, I mean, shout out to you, Fratello. And shout
Project 90 Soccer: Yes.
Marco: out to Mancini. Hey, we gotta give credit to Mancini, bro. Because Mancini is it has been making adjustments game by game. This was a
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: huge, huge point to go into France. A powerhouse and able
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: to get a point and go home?
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah. Yeah, after all the criticism they got after the Belgium game, they he really did make the right changes. They bounced back. So I'm happy. Now they're gonna play them in Rome. They're gonna play them in Italy. So the rematch, I believe, is next week in the nations league. So hopefully they can go in there, man, and just smack them one time, right? Give a give a loss, really bring Italy
Marco: Would hope so.
Project 90 Soccer: back. And this nations league with a couple wins. You know what I mean? That's what Italy needs, man. But I'm I'm excited to see some of the young players in the team. Coyote excites me a lot. I love to see Scalvini back. Mois Keane, I think he's kind of the one player that I'm not too stoked on. But nonetheless, man, I love where Italy's going. I love that they're getting draws against teams like France. for Mexico, we already covered it. United States looking good. yeah, man. It's 10 43 at night. We had to hop on. We had to do a post-game recap. Marco's passionate about Mexico. He said we need to hop on because I need to vent and damn it, you did.
Marco: So I told I I told I told Anto, I'm like, Anto, I'm drinking my tequila. I have all these thoughts going through my head. Mexico
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: didn't do us proud, but Mexico, I still love you. Mexico,
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
Marco: I'm still proud to be part of that country. But
Project 90 Soccer: Mm-hmm.
Marco: we gotta get our shit together, man. We never want to lose against USA. We never want to lose against Trump. Ever. Ever. And
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah. he said it. Yeah.
Marco: just like USA never wants to lose against Mexico. But it was one of those games. It there's always a red card. But you know what? It is what it is.
Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.
