Man City UNFAZED! 3-0 Win vs Liverpool at Anfield. Haaland, Doku, And Cherki Score, Barcola M.I.A.

Man City just walked into Anfield under a cloud of allegations and walked out with a 3-0 statement win. Antonio and Marco break down the boo-filled reception, the soft red card that flipped the match, and the exact moments Doku, Haaland, and Cherki turned pressure into punishment.

The result keeps City on top of the Premier League and raises bigger questions about what this team is playing for right now. Was Liverpool ever going to keep up after the sending-off? Did Doku change the game the moment he entered? And is Haaland still the most ruthless striker in the league when the chance appears for half a second?

You'll hear why the hosts think the second half changed everything, why Haaland's movement is still terrifying defenders, and why Liverpool's key absences made an already tough night even worse. They also dig into the players who need a breakthrough, including Barcola, who the hosts say is still waiting for that one defining performance against elite opposition.

Then the conversation widens to Manchester United, where a frustrating 1-1 draw with Spurs has Michael Carrick under real pressure. Antonio and Marco ask the question United fans are already asking: how long can this keep going before the hot seat turns into a full-blown collapse?

Marco: if that's gonna be a yellow card moving forward, then people should start getting yellow cards for just looking at each other.

Project 90 Soccer: he could not handle Doku. That guy was reigning terror on that wing over there.

Marco: they were getting booed left and right

Project 90 Soccer: came in there across Van Dijk and just buried it home.

Marco: he was a game changer.

Project 90 Soccer: you'd expect a guy like Barcola to do the same. They could probably use a guy like Gil Mora Welcome to the Project 90 Soccer Podcast. My name is Antonio, and I'm here as always with the one and the only Marco Antonio Munoz sitting in the bar area. Just took in this incredible victory for Man City 3-0 at Anfield. There's a lot of lot of news going into this game due to the allegations. This is their first game back. A lot of Lot of let's say criticism coming their way, but they were able to go to Anfield, get three goals, take home the three points, and sit on top of the Premier League still. Marco, what did you think about the reception that Man City received? Are you even surprised slightly by it?

Marco: Not surprised. I mean they were getting booed left and right every time they touched the ball. But it's also Man City. So anytime you go to another powerhouse, another big team, Liverpool, Man U, Chelsea, and vice versa, your team is always gonna get booed anyway.

Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.

Marco: but shout out to them for able to look past that and shout out to the Man City fans that made the trip and were there in full support with their yellow bananas and just cheering on to the squad and as as you can see, I mean Holland's dad is always in in the mix.

Project 90 Soccer: yeah.

Marco: And just shout out to them, man. They were able to bypass all that stuff.

Project 90 Soccer: Yeah, man, going in there, you know, we we all knew they were gonna get a lot of booze, a lot of hate from the fans, regardless, right? But after the allegations they've received, now obviously the biggest the biggest thing people are gonna start saying is like the only reason you're winning now is because you're breaking the rules and you're spending this money, right? Which the arguments there you can say, but either way, they went in there first half, seemed a little, I don't know, no team was really able to get into the game. It felt like but then the second half's where things really happened, right? Really changed. we saw we saw the second half start and Liverpool were just firing away for the first five minutes or so. Donoruma came up big, couple big saves there. But then Gravenberg, right, the Dutch International got a second yellow, which was so soft, in my opinion. I

Marco: Stupid second yellow.

Project 90 Soccer: mean, if that's gonna be a yellow card, there there should have been three or four red cards in that game. I mean, the way he threw that thing out, it's like nothing even he it was just a normal foul. I don't I don't understand.

Marco: Anto Anto, if that's gonna be a yellow card moving forward, then people should start getting yellow cards for just looking at each other. because

Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.

Marco: that yellow card changed everything.

Project 90 Soccer: It did.

Marco: Man City was pr pressing. I mean, I just want to roll it back a little bit. When the first half was over, and I was looking at the stats, I was like, it didn't seem like Man City had majority of possession, but stat-wise had the majority of possession. cause here point in the second half, I also noticed in the first half, Victor Munoz, my guy,

Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.

Marco: and They were they were trying to create opportunities those first 15, 20 minutes.

Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.

Marco: but stuff just wasn't happening for them. And come coming to the second half, like I mentioned, that red card just changed everything for them and opened up opportunities and Doku, I I really like

Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.

Marco: Doku. he came in and he was a game changer. So shout out for to them to making that sub. And who knows, if they would have made that sub earlier, they could potentially got one back behind the net, even before that red card. What do you think?

Project 90 Soccer: Yeah. I think so. When Doku came in, the game definitely changed. that guy was causing a lot of problems on the left wing. Gave Munoz a hard time. I thought Atahujo, the the ex Barcelona man, he was just looking slow. He was getting beaten. He was, he could not handle Doku. That guy was reigning terror on that wing over there. And the the first goal from Holland came from Doku, right? Taking the shot. There's a deflection, and Holland, as we know, with the strikers' instinct, came in there across Van Dijk and just buried it home. And it seemed like after that, they just took control of the game. You know what I mean? Then Doku came in not too long after with a with a screamer, curler to the top post, yeah, into the corner.

Marco: Beautiful, beautiful go. huh.

Project 90 Soccer: Amazing goal. And then Ryan Sherky, right? Who played this entire game. Obviously, that guy can change a game. That guy's class. Came in there, scored a goal, quick little feat, right? Cut in, slotted it past Allison. So three to zero at Anfield not a good result for Liverpool. Despite the red card, I know that affected their performance, but geez, man, three to zero is never good for for one of these games.

Marco: And we were talking about it. We were talking about early on. We're like, man, if Liverpool doesn't put one in, Man's you said Man City is gonna punish them and what do they do? They punish them. And shout out

Project 90 Soccer: Yep.

Marco: to shout out to Holland. He was trying to make things happen in the second half, man. One of the best

Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.

Marco: strikers in the world. He's a complete guy, in my opinion. And he was able to get that extra step in front of Van Dyke and recognize that that he he had attacked that ball and and and shoot that. So There's been conversations with Van Dyke. Is he a step cl slower? This is one of those situations where I don't know if he's a step cl slower is just you have an elite forward that's always gonna be looking for blood. As soon as he smells it, he's gonna go go for it. So shout out shout out to him.

Project 90 Soccer: Yeah, mean, you're gonna if you put the best defender in the world against the best striker in the world, you know, one's gonna win a duel here, another one's gonna win a duel there. But a guy like Holland, he just doesn't miss, man. And when he does, he gets another opportunity anyways. You can never sleep on that guy. He's truly just dangerous. He's one of the best strikers in the world right now, if not the best striker in the world. But for Man City, man, with all these allegations coming out, I think it's fair to say that. We can't sit here and blame the players, right? And give them the criticism for what's been happening behind the scenes. Even with Enzo Maresca, you can't really blame him for anything that's really going on. I saw on the stands there were really only two representatives from Man City's board

Marco: Sure. huh.

Project 90 Soccer: in in the stands, right? So they're really kind of keeping low right now. But the players, man, they didn't come out there with their with their heads down at all. They came out there confident, like they had a point to prove. And really, I mean, their their job's still on the line, right? These players. Whether it's main city or not, they gotta perform for their own sake. Right. And as a team, they went out there and they just absolutely destroyed them, I thought.

Marco: you notice when Holland scored, they all grouped up and they were saying something in in a little huddle, and then he would proceed with his celebration. So that tells

Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.

Marco: me that they're they're obviously aware of the situation. It has some type of weight on them, but the way they regrouped, it wasn't that typical regroup and celebrationless hug and high five and slap each other's butts. It was just

Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.

Marco: one of those where there was guys talking in there in in that short span of time of that celebration. So it tells me that. Right. They they they are aware of it, obviously. when they play, they know the impact that it's gonna be on them and the team, not only when they go away, but at home as well. But this was a huge win for

Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.

Marco: Man City that which taken them to the top of the table. they're leading the the Premier League right now and Holland six goals already, so he's leading the EPL in goal scoring. So we'll see how long this stretch goes. We'll see how long the If these guys ever even get impacted by what's going on. But what I do want to touch on, Anto, is I thought this was one of those games where Barcola was gonna break out. I still need

Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.

Marco: that breakout game for Barcola for the type of guy that they got, for the type of player that he is, the type of playing that he showed in the World Cup. I'm still waiting for that breakout game. And I don't want to see a breakout game against a Nottingham Forest or a Leeds

Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.

Marco: or anything. I want to see it against a big team, to where you can showcase your skills. And really carry the team on your back. And he had some plays where he was getting fouled or whatever the case may be, but nothing too crazy to where I'm like, all right, this is Barcola's

Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.

Marco: game. So I don't know if he's still adapting to the speed, the physicality of the the Premier League because his type of play, although it's explosive, it is a little technical at times where he needs to take that extra step. So I don't know, I'm just waiting for that.

Project 90 Soccer: Yeah, I noticed that right off the bat when when I saw Barcla was in the game, but it's no impact at all. You see a guy like Doku come on and absolutely change the game, you'd expect a guy like Barcola to do the same. Really, really control that wing that he's on and really cause problems, get in the box, deliver crosses, be dangerous. And honestly, there was none of that. He's been very, very quiet, was not a threat whatsoever, in my opinion. For Liverpool today, a big loss was Sobasla was out. He got injured. I think he has a hamstring injury. So For them, he's a he's a key player. That would have helped them a lot.

Marco: Ezak was out.

Project 90 Soccer: Yeah, Isaac was out as well. I thought Gravenberg did well. He's a great player. I saw him, you know, get the ball a couple of times and drive towards the defense. But again, he got sent off for the the softest second yellow

Marco: Stupidest thing.

Project 90 Soccer: of all time. And ultimately to me, that's what changed the game. Man City was under a lot, bro, a lot of booze. They were just giving it to him, man. And yeah.

Marco: Hey, I I have a love and hate relationship with O'Reilly in in Man City because

Project 90 Soccer: Me too, man.

Marco: sometimes he just does some stupid things or not even stupid, but like playing for Man City and playing for the for England. I was like, you're

Project 90 Soccer: England, yeah.

Marco: you're making these mistakes. But then again, like he also has these these these these showings or these plays where he is a c an attacker as well. And

Project 90 Soccer: Mm-hmm.

Marco: there was one play where he we he made a play up top, and then next you know He's saving the ball off of a corner kick. So it's just one

Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.

Marco: of those where this guy, you know what you have with him if if you're a coach. You know there's gonna be lapses in in defense, as I always say, or or he's up top and didn't come back come back fast enough. But I don't know. It's still one of those guys where sometimes I like him and sometimes I don't.

Project 90 Soccer: You know, and I noticed he got slipped in a few times, man. Like

Marco: Yeah.

Project 90 Soccer: he makes the right run. He's in there. They slip him into the box. He gets the ball. And it's like either shoot on goal, cut it back, do something with it. And w while he does have it went to nobody, man. He has

Marco: It went to nobody. Yeah.

Project 90 Soccer: a lot, he has a lot of good moments and a lot of good plays, but he's got just as many plays where it's like you could

Marco: Bad ones, yeah.

Project 90 Soccer: have done better. You know what I mean? And if he cleans those up, I know he's already at Man City, I know he's an England national. Player. He's a great player, obviously. But if he cleans all those up, he could be one of the best players. because he he really does. He makes the right runs, he's in the right spots. He seems to have good speed to him, good, good technique and all, but he doesn't capitalize on as many times as he should, in my opinion. But coming out of this game, Man City, three points, a little bit of a shock result. I thought Liverpool would come out of there with at least a point. But yeah, man, they're sitting in eighth place right now, I believe. So it's not the best season for for Liverpool. Udaiola is probably gonna. come under some criticism for this, but moving forward, I think Man City's just gonna keep their head down. And I think their goal is to really just prove everyone wrong in a sense where it's like we're getting all this shit from everybody and we're just gonna show you what we can do on the field and let that let that speak louder than all the all the newspapers and headlines. So we'll see

Marco: Mm-hmm.

Project 90 Soccer: what happens moving forward there. Before we end this episode though, Marco, I wanted to touch on something really quick. Is Michael Carrick in the hot seat with Man United getting a draw one to one versus Tottenham, man, at home With a a man up, Tottenham got a player sent off. They had a man up, still getting that one-one draw at Old Trafford. What do you think about Man United?

Marco: I think Kerrick, and I'm just gonna touch on Kerry because there's so much I can say about Men United.

Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.

Marco: I think Kerrick's been in the hot seat since last season, since when the conversations were happening about is he the right guy, right? So he's had that stigma attached to him from the very beginning. Is is he the guy who could just hold the seat until the end of the season until we find a coach? And then now that he has this opportunity, even before the season started, Anto, he's been criticized in the hot seat, with added extra pressure on him to perform so. That could be playing a part in decision making, but at the same time, he has a staff. And he is the ultimate decision maker when it comes to the decisions that are going around in the training ground, dur during the game, and what subs go in and who starts and who doesn't. So yes, there's some blame there, but ultimately, man, the perfor the players need to perform. How do you tie

Project 90 Soccer: Yeah.

Marco: one one with Tottenham? That's a huge, huge one point for Tottenham, especially for

Project 90 Soccer: Mm-hmm.

Marco: what they got going on. I think this is the second time this season when they're up a player. And they still can't get a result. So I don't know. A lot of issues going on with Manu. Rightfully so. They're sitting in, I believe, 13th place, potentially

Project 90 Soccer: man.

Marco: to potentially to go to 15th, 16th, 17th. If this continues, but if that continues and they keep dropping, yeah, Carrie will be officially out. Who knows? They bring up Ole again to f to finish off the season. I have no idea, Antho, but we're gonna hear it the rest of the week, leading

Project 90 Soccer: Mm-hmm.

Marco: up leading up to the next game. About Carrick and is he the right guy? But like I said, players get paid to play. Players at Men United need to perform.

Project 90 Soccer: I agree. I thought I thought Mbumo and Xerxes and and Cunha for I mean, I thought they had decent games, man. They played good, but again, man, it doesn't really matter if you're not getting the results, if you're not getting the goals. When you're a man up against the worst team arguably in the league right now, Tottenham, and you cannot maintain the lead and get out there with a dub, especially at home, at old fucking Trafford, man. That's not good. That's not acceptable for any team, to be completely honest. Let alone a team like Manchester United. So I see Michael Carrick, you know, obviously on in the hot seat like he's been. People criticize him. They're not sure if he's the right guy for the job. But if this continues, man, I don't even see him getting, you know, through the Christmas break, to be honest. At this point, he's got all of November. He's got the rest of October, all of November. If this keeps up for another two or three, four games, I could see him not even making it to Christmas.

Marco: So you're telling me he's not making it to boxing day?

Project 90 Soccer: I don't think so, dude. He's done. He's done. You can't do this, man. Man United's got the same problem they've always had. If they want to blame the manager, go ahead. But you're right, dude. It's the players. Ultimately, it's the players.

Marco: Yeah.

Project 90 Soccer: Someone's got to get it together for them. They got to put them in a system that works, give them confidence. But ultimately, man, you can only do so much when you say get out on the field. You're playing left mid today. You're playing striker today. You got to go out there and you got to deliver. So

Marco: I really miss Sir Alex Ferguson. Fergie. We need you. So he's about to be ninety in like five years, so Fergie.

Project 90 Soccer: Yeah. Fergie, maybe just get him back. He's still there, you know. Honestly, he'd probably s he'd probably still do better though than some of these other guys who never knew you know, it's crazy.

Marco: In in closing for Liverpool, supposedly in a couple days on the 14th, Gilmora potentially

Project 90 Soccer: Mm-hmm.

Marco: word on the street is

Project 90 Soccer: Fifty mil.

Marco: is Liverpool. And the street the the the word is out so much that my old lady came to me and says, like, hey, isn't that young kid from Mexico gonna sign with Liverpool? And I'm like, All right, if she knows, my next door neighbor knows. So, Gilmora,

Project 90 Soccer: Yeah, yeah.

Marco: on the 14th, I'm awaiting your decision. You turn 18 years old. If Liverpool's a case, good luck. It's a physical league. it's a demanding league. It's a fast league. But if you choose to go to Spain or Italy, I wouldn't be mad either.

Project 90 Soccer: Wouldn't be bad, man. It's gonna be very interesting because I think it's certain that he's gonna move. He's gonna get a big move. Now the question is, is he gonna live up to the price tag? Is he gonna be able to to adapt to the league? the EPL, Liverpool, you saw them today. They could probably use a guy like Gil Mora but is he gonna be able to adapt to the league and actually be a dangerous player for Liverpool? Is he gonna make the difference? I don't know. We're gonna have to wait and see. The kid's still young. I think there's been a lot of pressure been on his shoulders recently. Lot of talk about him when in reality the kid's still young, man. You gotta let him just get into the league, adapt, get up to speed, and let him do what he does. But until then, Marco, we're just gonna have to to wait and see if it's 50 mil. Congratulations to Hill Mora, man. Marco, before we end this episode, you have any last words for the Project 90 family, man?

Marco: Nah man, just like, subscribe, leave us a comment, we read all. Anto is is on all the the social medias, just checking them out and and replying to everyone. So Anto, I gotta get going 'cause I gotta watch the radio game.
